"Needed help opening my locked car as I had accidentally locked my keys and purse inside. Ray came quickly which was much appreciated, and worked efficiently to get my car door open within a half hour. Before he drove over, he had asked me multiple times on our phone call if I was able to pay him a specified amount via venmo once he was able to open my car door. I readily agreed and was prepared to do so. There was zero indication of this being a base rate or "service fee", and yet at the time of payment he requested I pay him nearly triple the specified amount he had repeatedly established on the phone call. As a college student, this was way more than I could comfortably afford, and more importantly very misleading. I refused to pay more than the rate he had established on the phone call, and he dramatically complained that I had wasted his time and that I would "need him in the winter" and would learn quickly how much other locksmiths charge. He aggressively asked if I was "not going to pay him" and I responded that I fully intended on paying him for his service, but was not comfortable with this sudden and very substantial spike in price. He then haggled with me until I agreed to pay him about 1.5x the initial amount rather than 3x. I understand that his service is valuable, but not being transparent about price and then arguing with a college student in the middle of a parking lot is bad taste and was a really difficult situation to be in. He attempted to gaslight me into believing that he had said the initial price was a "service fee" during the phone call, but he had not mentioned this at all (I had witnesses to this call as well) and had specifically confirmed my ability to pay said price via venmo once my car was unlocked and I had access to my purse/phone. I am satisfied with the service as it was efficient and no damage was done to my car, but Ray needs to learn a lesson or two on honesty and how to present himself to customers as his harsh and brash way of conversing with me eventually brought me to tears."

"I work for Joy At Home, LLC, a Homecare service company that takes care of elderly people and I had a customer in Brookline, who needs our services and our company is taking over his care. Ray from City Locksmith was called in yesterday (9/19/26) because there is a built-in lock on our clients’ door that had to be changed out/re-keyed It is an interconnected lock, meaning that the latch and deadbolt are interconnected Quite technical. Ray showed up on time and kept in communication with me which I appreciate. He re-keyed the cylinder so that we had new keys to walk and unlock this interconnected door knob deadbolt combination that I believe was built in the 1950s may be early 60s. He showed me his work and the cylinder he had to read. It was a mess from a previous lockout with my client about 15 years ago and the locksmith made a mess of the job at that time. Ray rekeyed it to perfection and cut me seven keys that work perfectly. I watched him reassemble the door which had issues and he took about 40 minutes to reconnect everything and it came out to perfection. The guy is a pro, highly recommend and he explains things very well so I was in the loop on all the work he was doing. I will use him in my profession whenever we need a locksmith because what he showed me yesterday convinced me he’s the guy."

Heavy duty lever lock was rekeyed since we were lacking key as Ray the locksmith out of Brookline from City Locksmith suggested that we start Fresh by opening lever lock cylinder & rekeying it to a new set of keys. Watched him breakdown & carefully re assemble the lever handle. Ray showed me all the parts and the weight of it and told me it was a very good quality heavy grade commercial Lever lock that was definitely worth keeping as it would last indefinitely. "Availability was excellent, including same-day/next-day options, and the job itself was completed quickly. Ray cleaned up very well after himself. Unfortunately, he arrived about 45 minutes late despite confirming the appointment time twice, including 30 minutes beforehand. On the phone, I was told that the specific lock model I was calling about would be $175 if the lock could be picked, or $200 plus the cost of the lock if drilling was required. That made the two possibilities sound relatively close in price. Once there, he spent less than 4 minutes attempting to pick the lock before deciding it had to be drilled. When I asked about the final cost, it came to $325. There were also professionalism issues - he touched food in my tenant’s home without asking, and later made an extremely crude and sexist comment about women. The work was completed very efficiently- in and out in 30 min once he arrived, but given other details above I can't recommend him."

I called Ray from City Locksmith and expected to wait cause it's Sunday. However, he said he said he would be out in 30 minutes which I doubted it and I'm fact he arrived in 30 mins. He not only fixed it but also saw the paint on the whole side of the door was scraped. Ray the locksmith also found a nail at the side of the door that was blocking the closing of the door. With my permission, Ray also removed the nail and shaved the top of the door. Additionally, he noticed the latch plate on the side of the door that was sticking out and he fixed that by receding and now my door can also be closed with just 1 finger. To say the least, I'm extremely happy with ChatGPT and Ray who came out to West Roxbury and fixed my door to my satisfaction at a reasonable price."

"I found Ray Locksmith on Google based on the fact that he’s local out of Brookline and the house is close by in Roslindale – my daughter’s new home Ray came on by and looked at the job and I told him all the locks were a mess. My daughter wanted an electronic lock and bought schlage ARRIVE the newest latest and greatest from Schlage. Ray came on time, cleaned up an old mortise mechanism on our front door and put a lot of locks in including the electronic Schlage arrive lock plus additional manual locks on our outside doors that now work perfectly.
